LC/SC/FC/ST/E2000 Multimode Simplex 50/125 OM3/OM4 Optic Patch Cord
Product Description
Raisefiber’s 10G OM3 Simplex multimode fiber patch cable is a laser-optimized multimode fiber (LOMMF) cable specially designed for use in 10 Gigabit Ethernet applications. This 50/125 OM3 multimode fiber optic cable features extremely high bandwidth, providing nearly three times the bandwidth over conventional 62.5/125µm multimode fiber cable. It offers improved performance, designed for 10GBase-SR, 10GBase-LRM connection in data centers. In the meantime, the OM3 fiber patch cable is completely compatible with the slower legacy system using LED or VCSEL optics, which allows the customers to use existing fiber cabling and system designs and easily update the cabling networks in the future.
Raisefiber’s OM4 multimode fiber optic patch cable is laser-optimized, high bandwidth 50µm multimode fiber (LOMMF) cable for use with 40G/100G Ethernet applications. This OM4 fiber patch cable features an extremely high bandwidth of 4700MHz*km, providing more than double times bandwidth over 50/125µm 10G OM3 multimode fiber -2000MHz.km. The OM4 fiber patch cable was explicitly developed for VSCEL laser transmission and allowed 40G link distances of up to 150 Meters or 100G link distances of up to 100 Meters. This cable is entirely (backward) compatible with your existing 50/125 equipment as well as with 10 Gigabit Ethernet applications. The OM4 fiber patch cable over OM3 fiber patch cable gives the cabling infrastructure user better performance to support longer distances or more connections. It provides a cost-effective way of avoiding expensive single-mode 40G/100G transceiver optics.
The OM3/OM4 fiber patch cable is manufactured with high-quality optical fiber and LC/SC/FC/ST/E2000 connectors. It is strictly tested for low insertion and return loss to ensure superior performance and quality.

OM3 VS OM4
● OM3 fiber has a suggested jacket color of aqua. Like OM2, its core size is 50µm. It supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet at lengths up to 300 meters. Besides OM3 is able to support 40 Gigabit and 100 Gigabit Ethernet up to 100 meters. 10 Gigabit Ethernet is its most common use.
● OM4 also has a suggested jacket color of aqua. It is a further improvement to OM3. It also uses a 50µm core but it supports 10 Gigabit Ethernet at lengths up 550 meters and it supports 100 Gigabit Ethernet at lengths up to 150 meters.
Diameter: The core diameter of the OM2, OM3 and OM4 is 50 µm.
Jacket Color: OM3 and OM4 are usually defined with an Aqua jacket.
Optical Source: OM3 and OM4 usually use 850nm VCSEL.
Bandwidth: At 850 nm the minimal modal bandwidth of OM3 is 2000MHz*km, of OM4 is 4700MHz*km
How to choose the Multimode OM3 or OM4 Fiber?
Multimode fibers are able to transmit different distance ranges at various data rate. You can choose the most suited one according to your actual application. The max multimode fiber distance comparison at different data rate is specified below.

LC connectors
These connectors are ideal for use in high-density applications due to their small size and feature a pull-proof design. They are available in both simplex and duplex versions with a 1.25mm zirconia ferrule. Additionally LC connectors also make use of an specialized latch mechanism in order to provide stability within rack moum.
SC connectors:
SC Connectors are non-optical disconnect connectors with a 2.5mm pre-radius-ed zirconia ferrule. They are ideal for quick patching of cables into rack or wall mounts due to their push-pull esign. Available in simplex and duplex with a reusable duplex holding clip to allow for duplex connections.
FC connectors:
They feature a durable threaded coupling and are best suited for use within telecoms applicationsand make use of non-optical disconnect.
ST connectors:
ST connectors or Straight Tip connectos make use of a semi-unique bayonet connection with a 2.5mm ferrule. ST’s are great fiber optic connectors for field installation due to their reliability and durability. They are available in both simplex and and duplex
